The resort is a popular tourist destination thanks to its exceptional location in the Mala Fatra Mountains. Vratna consists of three basic sites – Paseky, Poludňový Grúň and Chleb. Of course, there are other places and hiking trails in the Vrátna valley where you can go in summer. However, these three locations together form our year-round resort Vrátna Mala Fatra. PASEKY is a popular place not only in winter, but also in summer. In the summer months you can try the Activity Park with mountain tricycles, tubing, bungee trampoline or jumping “hill”. There is also a BIKEPARK with a downhill track and a skill zone. When you get hungry, we recommend heading to the HUMNO restaurant with a tasty summer menu and good coffee.
Paseky is also a great starting point for hiking. Either on your own or use the 4-seater cable car, which will also take you to new photo points such as the giant bench or the observation swings. The last novelty in the upper station of the chairlift is Love Boat – a big heart where you can symbolically seal your love or friendship with your own lock. The upper station of the chairlift is a beautiful place with a view of Poludňový Grúň. After a short walk, which even small children can handle, you will reach the Chata na Grúni, where you can take a moment to relax and enjoy a snack with a view of the peaks of Mala Fatra. From there you can continue on a slightly more demanding zig-zag climb up to the very crest of Mala Fatra and take the popular ridge climb up to Chleb.
You can also take our cable car to Chleb and this location as well as the whole ridge of Mala Fatra offers truly majestic views. An 8-seater cable car will take you from the valley station Vrátna (lift) to the Snilovský sedlo (1 492 m.n.m.), which is an ideal starting point for hiking, so you will overcome 750 metres of altitude and it is up to you which of the many trails and what difficulty you choose. The above mentioned ridge is also popular with the start from Chleb – towards Poludňový Grúň. However, if you are exclusively a hiker, there is a hiking trail below the cable car that will also take you to the top. Right next to the top station of the cable car Chleb is the PANORAMA restaurant with a sun terrace.
The Malá Fatra National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks in Slovakia. It was founded in 1988. It is located in the northwestern part of the Western Carpathians. The territory of the National Park itself occupies the Krivánská part of the Mala Fatra Mountains. It is the last westernmost national park of the Carpathian Mountains with a permanent presence of large carnivores (bear, wolf, lynx) and original and relatively well-preserved ecosystems.
The Malá Fatra National Park is characterised by an extraordinary diversity of geological and climatic conditions. This, together with the vertical ruggedness, has contributed to a great diversity of plant and animal communities.
